Project 1:
Geometry and Form
The design project introduces basic understanding of the design principles, processes and approaches in generating ideas, developing design and translating it into form. The project encouraged us to tap into critical and creative side through modes exploring design principles every week apply into 3 tattoo stamps and 3 models. The outcome of the project was architectural self-exploration; we were free to explore forms and techniques that show creativity, and our own identity was explained through our model and tattoo stamps.
Project 1 : Geometry and Form - Architectural Design Elements and Principles
Space & Rhythm
I created the model based on the tattoo stamp creating two structures on each corner to enclose together to form the middle area representing the space. The form & organization, is subtractive; the space in between as the structure creates a border as its combined & clustered as the multiple layers to create each structure causes it to be clustered.
2
Point & Axis
The tattoo stamp is drawn based on these elements and the point starts off from the corner and develops to create multiple lines in the direction of that point or from the point. It is also axis as all the lines act on from a point in the axis each having their own direction. The model is based on the tattoo stamp and the sphere in the middle represents the point and the sticks represent the lines going in several directions. The form for this model would be centralized as the sphere acts as the centre for the model and clustered as the organization as all the sticks are clustered into their respective sides.
3
Shape & Hierachy
I created the tattoo stamp using the shape of a square as the main shape and using several squares of different sizes to symbolize hierarchy. The model is created in multiple cubes as to the tattoo stamp and the form is addictive as the layers of cubes add up & the organisation is interlocking as they are also interlocking with the main square outline structure in the middle.
